As the year draws to a close, it’s the perfect time to reflect on the milestones and achievements that have shaped MBTN’s journey. This year has been marked by significant progress, driven by the dedication and vision of our Board, Governance Advisors, and the entire MBTN community. Their contributions have not only strengthened our organization but also expanded our impact in meaningful ways.
This review highlights MBTN’s key accomplishments and spotlights the individual efforts of our Board Governance Advisors, Consortium Collaborators, donors, volunteers, and community partners who have played pivotal roles throughout the year.

Strengthening Our Community Connections
One of MBTN’s core goals this year was to deepen our ties with the community we serve. Our Board Governance Advisors led several initiatives that brought people together and created new opportunities for collaboration.
  • Community Workshops: Over 8 workshops were organized and attended, focusing on skill-building and knowledge sharing. These sessions attracted over 500 participants, many of whom reported improved confidence and new connections. Board Officers Liaison Dr Avareena Schools-Cropper’s presentation and MBTN’s representative at the Inaugural Baltimore Connect Conference: “Community Connections-Building Awareness & Access was a signature event for MBTN.
  • Partnership Development: Board Governance Advisor for Family and Community Engagement, Dr. Nicole L. Watford, facilitated partnerships with local organizations (Patients First, St. Agnes Ascension Patient & Family Advisory Council), resulting in joint projects addressing community needs in education, health, and economic development.

These efforts have made MBTN a hub for community growth and support, reinforcing our commitment to making a tangible difference.

Advancing Organizational Growth and Innovation

MBTN’s growth this year was fueled by strategic planning and innovation, much of which was driven by the Board’s forward-thinking approach.

  • Strategic Plan Implementation: The Board successfully rolled out a three-year strategic plan that focuses on expanding services and improving operational efficiency. This plan was developed through extensive consultation and data analysis. Many thanks to Strategic Planning Developers from our Collaborators Consortium Members, Dr Eduardo Ali,  Dr Mario Jackson,  and Board Officers Liaison Dr Avareena School-Cropper.

  • Mission and Vision Statement Updates: The Executive Leadership Community and the full Board Governance Advisors voted during the 4th Quarter BGA meeting to accept MBTN’s updated Mission and Vision Statement and to eliminate the Philosophy Statement.

  • Technology Upgrades, Redesign & Relaunch: To improve communication and service delivery, MBTN invested in new technology platforms. Board Governance Advisor Dr Chris Odinou spearheaded this initiative, overseeing the selection and implementation of tools to enhance remote collaboration and data management, and Collaborator Consortium Member Ms Tina Deguire McDonald’s contribution to the social media platform selections and design.

These accomplishments have positioned MBTN for continued success and adaptability in the years ahead.

Looking Ahead: Building on Our Momentum

The progress made this year sets a strong foundation for the future. MBTN’s Donors, Board Governance Advisors, Collaborator Consortium, volunteers, and the community at large are committed to continuing this trajectory by:

  • Expanding outreach to new communities

  • Enhancing program quality and accessibility

  • Increasing collaboration with partners and stakeholders

  • Maintaining transparent and effective governance

The commitment demonstrated over the year instills confidence that MBTN will continue to expand and have a positive impact. Looking back at this year’s accomplishments highlights the strength of teamwork, vision, and dedication. MBTN’s success is a collective narrative, crafted by each Board Governance Advisor and 'community member' who offered their time and skills. As we progress, this collaborative spirit will remain our most valuable asset.

A heartfelt Thank You to everyone!
